Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle has split from her American footballer fiancé, less than a year after they got engaged.
The 25-year-old made the shock announcement on her official Twitter page tonight, with a post saying: 'A few weeks ago Jason and I broke up.
'We are great friends and decided we are better this way. I'm in NYC working & I love all your support. x.'
However, there has been no further comment yet from her spokespeople.
The singer seemed very philosophical about her break-up however, tweeting: 'Aside from that, I am having a wonderful time with friends here.'
She then posted a series of pictures of herself grinning and having a good time at various nightspots around New York, including members' club Soho House.
Nadine got engaged to the 33-year-old NFL footballer after a surprise proposal last September.
She then revealed the happy news shortly afterwards in an interview with Radio 1 presenter Scott Mills as she promoted her ill-fated solo album.
She started dating Jason in 2008 after moving to Los Angeles in a bid to launch her career in the U.S.
Before Jason, she dated several famous men, including Desperate Housewives actor Jesse Metcalfe and Northern Irish soccer player Neil McCafferty.
She's due to rejoin Girls Aloud next year after her debut solo album Insatiable failed to set the charts on fire after it was released on Tesco's own label.
It was released in November but only reached No. 47. The eponymous single from the LP only just scraped into the Top 30 and further releases from it were shelved.
Girls Aloud meanwhile are due to celebrate their 10th anniversary next year, after a hiatus where all the members were taking time out to concentrate on their solo careers.
Both Sarah Harding and Nicole Roberts are due to release their debut albums this year.
Kimberley Walsh meanwhile is concentrating on her presenting career.
Bandmate Cheryl Cole however, who already has a successful solo career, is contemplating what to do next after being sacked from the U.S. version of the X Factor and dropped from her role on the UK version.
