Festival Fever

As the days are getting longer and the sun is starting to stick around, my thoughts turn to the Festival Season and all the fun, music and outfits that come with it. There’s a bumper crop, as ever this year, so I have listed some of my favourites to head out to and some fashion ideas to be seen in.

Latitude Suffolk (July 14-17)
A country estate near Southwold, at Henham Park, is the place to be for ballet performances on a platform in the middle of the lake, stand up comedy and high level chilling out. Singer song writer Paolo Nutini, and Britpop founders Suede will be headlining this year, along with Paolma Faith and Comedians, including Alan Carr, Dave Gorman and Angelos Epithemiou will be playing on the comedy stage. There will also be burlesque shows and plenty for the kids to do.

Hop Farm, Kent (July 1-2)
This festival is kept deliberately low key. There’s is no major sponsorship, so just great music aimed at the more mature festival goer. This year’s toe tapping sets will come from The Eagles, Bryan Ferry, Morrissey, Lou Reed, Brandon Flowers and The Human League, amongst many others. Along with the music there will be all the fun of the fair, as Hop Farm will be decked out with an assortment of funfair attractions that won’t fail to disappoint.

The Big Hill, Herefordshire (Aug 4-7)
Eastnor Castle, Deer Park will rock to rap king Kanye West this year, as will as other headliners, including, The Chemical Brothers, Robert Plant, Jessie J, Calvin Harris, Example and Liam Bailey. The setting is superb and so are the facilities. Boutique camping options, for those who hate to camp, me included, include podpads with solar powered USB points and recharging points.

Rewind, Oxfordshire (Aug 19-21)
If you love the 80’s then Rewind is the festival for you. Rewind offers nothing but 80’s classics. This year’s revellers can practise their dad dance moves to Rick Ashley, Kim Wilde, Toyah, UB40, The Human League, Bananarama, Haircut 100 and Bucks Fizz! So ra-ra skirts and pastel Miami style, suits at the ready. Along with the music you’ll find dodgem cars, karaoke and mass singalongs a longside an Ashes to Ashes style wine bar.

Lovebox, Victoria Park, East London (15-17 July)
An epic weekend in the heart of the East End of London, it packs a punch when it comes to style, atmosphere and good music. Set in one of Londons oldest public parks, this year its headliners are Snoop Dogg, Scissor Sisters, The Wombats, Blondie, Beth Ditto, Jessie J, Ed Sheeran and many many more. With plenty of places to eat and drink, they aim to make the beautiful park even more beautiful with bespoke built venues and arenas.

This years line up includes Katy B, Calvin Harris, Paul Van Dyke, Judge Jules, Paul Oakenfold, David Guetta, Example and many more. When it comes to festival fashion, you have to be prepared for anything weather wise. Hopefully if the weather holds and the sun is still shinning then you can ditch the Wellingtons and Pac a Macs. Instead, take it as your moment to amp up your look and wear things that make a statement. ASOS have come up with a ‘shop all festival fashions’. They have taken some music style icons to inspire you from Bowie, to Joan Jett, Elton to Jim Morrison.
