In anticipation of the nationwide release of PROM on June 3, we’ve taken a look at some of the best prom-style dresses worn by our favourite fashionistas, including Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Lea Michelle, Emma Watson, and Alexa Chung. These exquisite ensembles adorned the red carpet but could also work as a fabulous dress for your prom or end of year dance.
Have a look and let us know which dress you’d love to wear to your prom. And be sure to attend Disney’s PROM on June 3.-
Katy Perry:
Katy Perry’s beautiful dress that she wore on the red carpet before she hosted the European Music Awards in 2009 comes from Karl Lagerfeld’s 2010 spring collection, but you can learn from her choice for prom! Wear a simply coloured dress with texture to avoid going too overboard

Katy Perry looks stunning in this Basil Soda chiffon gown at the 2009 Grammy Awards. She keeps the look very classy and simple with the long flowing pastel pink dress. Pair a light coloured dress like this with glowing bronzed skin for wonderful pictures on your prom night!
-
-
After guest judging on The X-Factor, Katy Perry looks stunning in a blue-and-gold lace Jenny Packham sheath. If your dress isn’t too complicated, pair it with fun coloured shoes like Perry, here in Christian Louboutin purple pumps!
-
Emma Watson:
Harry Potter star Emma Watson chose this decidedly grown up Valentino one-shoulder gown for the 2011 BAFTAS. The delicate lace pattern and frills a contrast to her newly cropped hair. This classy look will have you feeling quite distinguished at prom!

-
A true style icon, Emma wears this Burberry mini dress for a catwalk show. Can you believe this is Emma at work!? The gold dress is finished perfectly with a simple black belt and black platforms, also Burberry.
Taylor Swift:
Taylor Swift’s Reem Acra gold gown is absolutely fabulous and can easily hide more comfortable shoes for your special day, just like when Swift won Entertainer of the Year at the 2009 Country Music Awards. Dressing up in sequins (let alone GOLD sequins) can make any girl feel like a princess!-

Taylor Swift rocked this lavender Sandy Spika gown when she was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2008 Grammy Awards. The light purple colour perfectly complements her fair skin and the simple bodice allows her to have more dynamic hair.
-
-
Even though Taylor Swift got interrupted by Kanye West at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, she looked stunning in this silver Kaufman Franco gown. You can’t go wrong with sequins!
-
Alexa Chung:
TV presenter and fashion writer Alexa Chung painted the town (and her lips) very red when she wore this striking Jason Wu dress for the 2009 Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. Don’t forget that your make-up can be as important an accessory as your shoes or bag!
-
Defy convention like Alexa did at the Metropolitan Mueseum of Art’s Costume Gala. Here Alexa is dressed in a stylish suit by exclusive 3.1 Phillip Lim. The strappy shoes, bag and styled suspenders lend a feminine touch.
-
Lea Michele:
For the 2010 Emmy Awards, Lea Michele went with this gorgeous navy strapless Oscar de La Renta gown. The simple top and detailed bottom was greatly balanced out by a fabulous choker necklace and matching bracelet.

–
Lea Michele totally owns this emerald green at the 2010 Screen Actors Guild Awards. The Malandrino gown is perfectly elegant. We’re sure it’s comfortable too!
-
The one shoulder design is great for posing in pictures! Lea Michele rocks this navy Romona Keveza gown at the 2010 Grammy Awards. The cinched waist helps accentuate her chest and suck in her waist… not that she needs the help!
-
-
Blake Lively:
Blonde bombshell Blake Lively looked smokin’ in a super high thigh, super low cut Versace gown at the 2009 Met Gala. Her sky high gold shoes are essential to making this outfit since the dress will more than likely show off her feet all night.
-
Gossip girl won’t be talking about Blake Lively while she’s wearing this great black mini. The sunkissed blonde wore the 80’s inspired Balmain dress to the 2009 HBO Emmy after party. Pairing long sleeves with a mini is a great look, especially when you pair it with cool coloured jewellery like Lively’s earrings!

Aimee Teegarden:
PROM star Aimee Teegarden looks totally adorable in this white and cream strapless dress at the Scre4m premiere. Her addition of metallic accessories completes her look. Check out Aimee’s fashion in Disney’s PROM, in cinemas from June 3.

The story:
At “Prom”, every couple has a story and no two are exactly alike. Several intersecting stories unfold at one high school as the big dance approaches; “Prom” portrays the precarious passage from high school to independence as some relationships unravel and others ignite. For Nova Prescott (Aimee Teegarden), it’s a battle of wills as she finds herself drawn to the guy (Thomas McDonell) who gets in the way of her perfect prom. Fellow seniors Mei (Yin Chang) and Tyler (DeVaughn Nixon) harbor secrets, while others face all the insecurity and anticipation that surrounds one of high school’s most seminal events. There are hundreds of nights in high school, but there’s only one “Prom”. Featuring an emerging ensemble cast and a powerful soundtrack, “Prom” hits theatres June 3, 2011.
